Alaina Hayes, Senior Pictures, Noelle Bell Photography, Knoxville TN

What a joy it was to capture Alaina’s senior pictures.  She has been a Thursday Connection student that I have photographed for the past 3 years.   When it came time to capture her senior portraits they contacted Noelle Bell Photography and scheduled a 2 hour session.  We started out in downtown Knoxville at one of my favorite locations, the Historic Southern Railway Station, where we captured some amazing images of her in a beautiful red dress.

We finished up at the train station and headed off to some beautiful tall grass where we captured her with her cowgirl hat that she used to use when she competed, (I so loved that hat), and some gorgeous outdoor shots.  We started with the American flag they wanted to use.

Then we got out her guitar and denim jacket for some other shots in the beautiful sunlight.

Then we headed off to their house to capture some of her with the brown eyed boy she fell in love with at the age of 6.  Trigger was thrilled to come out and eat the good grass and then we captured some neat pictures of the two of them together.

And what country girl doesn’t want a picture on her John Deere!  It was a great ending to Alaina’s session, and her parents were thrilled with all the amazing images.

Carson what to say about Carson!?   I have had this kid in Sunday school ever since he was in second grade.   I’ve gotten to know his family as I photographed his older sisters Katie for her senior portraits.  Now it was time for Carson’s senior pictures.  We had a lot of fun starting at Noelle Bell Photography where we captured some images of Carson in his Harden Valley Academy marching band uniform.

Afterwards Carson changed into something casual to take a couple portraits both in the studio and then a few outside behind the studio as we had some beautiful fall colors in the background.
It was a lot of fun to photograph this with my intern Carissa I have also had her ever since she was a rising first grader in Sunday school.  She was my intern all semester so let me tell you this session especially so entertaining because everybody knew each other from way back so we just had a blast.
After that was all done we decided to take some senior portraits on the road not literally the road but we went just a little bit around the corner and got some sun pictures of him playing the trumpet outside at night.

And then I just let Carson play with fire.  Carissa and I took pictures and laughed at how much fun he was having.   There are really not any great pictures from this because my wrist was pretty much worn out by this time, so I just took some pictures of him in the fire.  We did do a second set with Carson because I wanted to get a few of him and his favorite hoodie!!  It’s his mom’s favorite outfit of all time of Carson’s!!   He he he…I was just thankful that his shirts didn’t need ironing, even if they both were green.  😂
And here is Amy’s favorite from the second half of the session.

Carson I just want to say that I have loved watching you grow up in the Lord and in life.  I’m so excited to see what God’s going to do with you in the future even if you do grow your hair long. 😉

Cassidy Bailey, Senior Pictures, Noelle Bell Photography, Bearden High School

When I first met with Cassidy, we immediately connected as she not only loves photography but she also has and loves cats.  She wanted to include her cats in her senior portraits so I had her come by as I was actually setting up for a Halloween set and I photographed her cats in the set as well as some of them by themselves.  These images actually wound up being a three piece collage that they purchased.

Cassidy’s senior session we set at Concorde Park in Farragut, TN.  The location worked great as I had a few things that I wanted to try which we did at the very end of the session.  She wanted to spell out 2016 in leaves and since there were still some remaining fall leaves there it worked out nicely.

Cassidy also loves pumpkins and halloween so she brought her pumpkin which matched wonderfully with her purple and black outfit.

Cassidy loves water and I brought a crimson tulle skirt that we had discussed using on the beach.  We altered the plan slightly and Cassidy actually went into the water with it.  This image was actually a favorite of both hers and mine from her senior session.

Her mom got in on a few pictures as well with Cassidy.  She and her mom are really close as it’s been the two of them for a while now.   I could tell immediately how close they were as they goofed off, laughed made faces at each other.  it was a lot of fun to capture the two of them together.  Here’s the image that they selected as their favorite.

For the last part of our session Cassidy changed and we got some fun in with smoke.  We lost almost all light so it was very hard to do this as we needed one more set of hands.  Here is her and my favorite image from that last part of the session.   Cassidy’s outfit was perfect for this!  Cassidy, thank you for allowing me the privilege of capturing your senior pictures.

Dani Crowder, Senior Pictures, Maryville High School, Noelle Bell Photography

Last fall Dani Crowder from Maryville, TN got on my website and booked her senior session.  I love that my website now has a fast and easy way to book senior sessions.  You can just go onto the website, go to the tab that says “BOOK NOW” and pay.  Once your session is booked the next open slot that fits into your schedule is yours.  Dani took advantage of this only 1 week after the website link was set up.  It made it so easy and we did our consultation over the phone.

When Dani came for her senior session I was ready to quit and go shopping she had some awesome outfits for her session.  The weather was perfect, the light was gorgeous and the wind give us just a touch of a breeze so it wasn’t too hot.  Dani brought her friend Brentlie along and we captured some neat images towards the end of the two of them together.

Here’s some of my favorites from the first part of her session and my favorite outfit.

The second outfit was amazing as well, and the blue top with the water in the background really made the images rock.  It really was a perfect weather kind of day.

We moved down the road to capture some images at the end of the shoot and we were privileged with the most magnificent sunset.

And not to be forgotten, here are some of the images of Dani and Brentlie together.  These were not images ordered but I wanted to be sure the girls had some of these to remember the fun that they had that day.

Raegan Kennedy, Senior Pictures, Oliver Springs High School Senior, Noelle Bell Photography

I met Raegan 3 years ago when she needed some pageant photos for the pageant she was going to be in.  We took some pictures outside in a few casual outfits and then went into the studio for the formal images.  Her mom and I really had a wonderful time and they were thrilled with my work (which was incredibly humbling as it was my first pageant shoot).  When they came back to view the images I asked if Raegan would consider being a spokesmodel for Noelle Bell Photography.

The following year she was a junior at Oliver Springs High School, and so the junior model program began.  We had two really neat photo shoots her junior year.  Here is a link to the images we captured on the first photoshoot where we had to work around a rainstorm that rolled in halfway through the shoot.

The second time we met for her second spokesmodel shoot we had a lot of fun styling in her formal dresses on a location shoot.  We tried a variety of lights and captured some amazing images.  I love the opportunity to get creative with my clients and Raegan was very happy to try new things.  Here are some of the images from that shoot as I don’t think I blogged that session, but they have been some of Raegan’s and my favorite images.

And finally we come to her senior session and what fun we had.  We headed to the Historic Southern Railway Station and she had brought some amazing outfits and simple looks that really looked amazing.  Here are some of the images they chose for her senior portraits, and a few of my favorites that I loved.

Raegan, these past few years have been a blast!  I can’t wait to see where this next adventure takes you and I look forward to hearing all the things God does in and through you.  Blessings from us here at Noelle Bell Photography!

Junior Model Session, Hardin Valley Academy, Noelle Bell Photography

Earlier in June I had some free time and wanted to play in the sunshine and wheat fields, so I contacted Addison, whom I had photographed the summer before her freshman year in high school at Hardin Valley Academy.   I asked two other juniors who are also juniors at Hardin Valley Academy to join us and we made an afternoon of it.  We started out in downtown Knoxville in a new location.  It was a hot afternoon with the AC out in the upstairs room we were in, but thankfully I had brought a fan and it helped.    Here are my three favorite images from that part of the session.

Then we added a little bit of fun to the session with some tulle skirts that I had made.

The girls rocked these images and although Addison decided not to twirl, both Hannah and Hannah loved twirling in their skirts!

Then we headed off to the wheat field after a stop to get some coffee at Starbucks!  My frap was perfect, and I downed my ice water as well.  The only bummer was that the sun went behind the cloud when we got to the wheat field.  We managed a few pictures before we called it a night.

My seniors, 12 years in the making, Noelle Bell Photography

This is a very special year for me.  A year that is here by the grace of God and because I obeyed the Lord many years ago and let go of what I never wanted to let go of.  To tell you the story, I’ll have to take you back to when I first came to Knoxville, TN.  Suffice it to say this is a story with length so I’ll leave out a few things, like how God brought me to TN, but when I arrived in the fall of 2003 I began looking for a way to work with the youth in the area.  I had previously worked with the youth in Lynchburg, VA for about 12 years, and my college degree at Liberty University was Church ministries with a concentration on Youth Ministries.  I never felt the call on my life to be a pastor (Lordy you don’t want this crazy child to lead them in that role), but I had a clear calling for youth my sophomore year at Liberty.   Being a part of their life,  loving on them, doing fun and crazy things with them, (like Wal-Mart at midnight just for kicks) and just being there to do life with them.  I could share so many stories.

The Lord closed all doors to youth ministries to me here in Knoxville when I arrived and began looking for a place to serve.  Youth for Christ, Young Life, Fellowship’s youth group, and many other places.  I was pretty lost, so unsure of why God was closing all these doors.  When my small group leader, Dee, asked if perhaps God was calling me to a period of rest – well surely I didn’t need rest…why would He need me to do that?  But then again, He was.  When I finally got that through my head and said okay God I’ll rest, I had peace and knew He was calling me to that, even if I didn’t understand the why of it.  Little did I know that He had plans of His own just around the corner.

Summer came and with it Children’s ministry!  The church began asking for leaders for each grade and my friend Ken came to me and asked if I would work the same grade with him so that if either one of us wanted a weekend away we could go and one of us would still be there for the kids.  Okay, sure.  So we started with this group of rising 1st graders.  Benji, Olivia, Nathan, Katie, Naomi, Carissa and others who have come and gone through the years.  I never really knew that there was anything beyond the summer for me in this ministry and I loved these kids dearly, but this was a God thing and there were many more pieces yet to be discovered in this story.

That summer came and went and then the next summer Ken and I decided to do it again and keep the same kids so we had the rising 2nd graders.  This again did not register as any kind of a God story until the summer was winding down.  There was a desperate need to have leaders for the children’s ministries team.  It took me some time to finally respond to the tugging of the Lord on my heart to serve.  It wasn’t high school, but I had a relationship with the kids after two summers and in no time it grew to a deeper relationship including the parents as well.

I began to take the kids on outings, and yes the parents trusted me with their kiddos’, which to me was such a privilege and SO MUCH FUN!  Movies downtown were fun with some of the boys who all opted to get suicide soda’s – aka…a little bit of soda from each of the soda fountains tap (yes a combo of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper and whatever else was there). Can we say sugar rush!   All of these were fun even when we went to Mast General Store afterwards and I let the kids get even more candy.  (I’m such a good aunt!)  It’s a wonder those parents let me take them out again after getting their sugared up children back.

And there were soccer games to attend.

And then getting being invited to the “North Knoxville gatherings” as the “west Knoxvillian”, and becoming more involved with the kids and the parents in a fun and laid back setting.   I had an in as most of the kids there were the kids that I had in Sunday School.

Noelle Bell Photography My Kids Knoxville TN

And the journey continued into their 5th grade year.  Right before I got married and when my soon to be husband and I took 4 of the kids out to a movie and then ice cream and then took them home.  I’ll never forget “The Wheels on the Bus” by Carson and his many many made up verses to the song, and Brittany’s steel nerves as she sat in the back seat quietly not saying a thing.  I think i learned how far it really was from west Knoxville to his house that night!

My wedding rolled around and 4 of the kids came with their families.  I was thrilled to have them there and their families attend.

Wedding Photography Robert Mitchell Photography Noelle Bell Wedding My kids

Then began their middle school crazy years.  I must admit I’m not a fan of middle school changes and the extreme amount of energy the kids have and I think I know that God has NOT called me to work with that age group.   I was going back to school for photography at that time, so I was the “photographer” during those years and held no formal title or role in their lives, but watched two dear ladies (Mandy and Tracy) love them well.  I was blessed to be able to watch them grow and still be a part of their lives.  Those years however, were the beginning of a huge change for me.  I had loved photography for a long time and had never taken the advise of my parents to pursue it until now.  This was finally the time and I knew right away that a change was coming.

I knew I wanted more time to spend with the kids at events and just time to be a part of their busy lives as they began high school.  However working a full-time job, part time job photography,  youth group as well as family and more.  It was becoming too much.  I was offered severance to leave the wonderful job that I had been at at Scripps Networks for the past 8 years, and I knew this was the right move.   After prayer and deliberation with my husband, the company and my parents, it was agreed and a few months later I made the move to work full-time as a portrait photographer.  I hadn’t full decided to mainly work with high over the years.

So all of that to finally arrive at this year, Summer of ’15, where these kids that have been a part of my life for 12 years,  7 years, 4 years and some a number in between, these are my kiddos’!  I love them and this summer and this year I have the privilege and joy of spending time with them, creating memories, laughing, drinking coffee, eating Brewster’s ice cream and most fun of all doing creative photo shoots and their specialized senior photos as well.  We have already had 2 outings and a third happens this Sunday.  These kids are truly getting a senior experience that most likely might never happen again, nor could I ever dreamed of having.  So thank you Lord for your unexpected ways, the twist and the turns and the relationships I’ve made along the way.  I’m looking forward to many more fun times this year before you all graduate and head off to college.  I love you all and look forward to photographing you and creating a senior portrait experience like no other with you.

It’s been a busy April and May and gearing up for a busy summer as the 2016 seniors sessions begin!   About a month ago Raegan Kennedy, one of my junior reps from last year and now one of my class of 2016 seniors, and I got together to do her last junior model shoot with Noelle Bell Photography.  We had so much fun and got some amazing images of her with some outfits from Southern Charm Boutique in Oliver Springs, where she does some modeling for the owner.  We also captured some images of her in one of the prom dresses that she wore to one of the two proms she attended this spring.  So here are some of my favorite images from this session.

Ryan Long, CAK 2015 Senior, Noelle Bell Photography

It was such a joy meeting and working with both Jackie and Ryan Long this year.  Jackie called the studios of Noelle Bell Photography after realizing that her son’s senior portraits needed to be done quickly before he graduated.  We set a date and headed to the old city in downtown Knoxville for the session.

Ryan not only rocked his session, but in a few of the pictures, he is looking a little bit like Jason Priestly from 90210 (and yes I know not everyone even knows what that is so I’m dating myself by even saying this!).  Here are my favorite black and white images of him that we captured that day.
